Management Verses Technical Support

This is another item that someone added to one of my old blogs a few years ago

Whilst looking for useful information to add to my site http://How2HelpYourself.com
I thought this was worth a second showing:-

A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost.
He reduces his altitude and spots a man down below.
He lowers the balloon further and shouts:

“Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?”

The man below says:
“Yes, you re in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field.”

“You must work in Technical Support,” says the balloonist.

“I do,” replies the man. “How did you know?”

“Well” says the balloonist,
“everything you have told me is technically correct, but completely useless.”

The man below says: “You must be in management.”

“I am,” replies the balloonist, “but how did you know?”

“Well”, says the man, “you don’t know where you are,
or where you're going, but you expect me to be able to help.
You re still in the same position you were before we met,

but now it’s my fault!”

Just like the Prison/Work post this was worth a second showing

but again, I have no idea who wrote the piece

What is the Difference Between Prison and Work?

This post was pasted into one of my blogs about 3 years ago.

It is so appropriate for today of all days; so I repeat it here

I would like to point out some similarities between prison and work

1. PRISON VS WORK

If you ever get these two environments confused, this should make things a little bit clearer.

IN PRISON......you spend the majority of your time in a 10X10 cell.
AT WORK........you spend the majority of your time in an 8X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON......you get three meals a day.
AT WORK........you get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON......you get time off for good behaviour.
AT WORK........you get more work for good behaviour.

IN PRISON......the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK........you're often required to carry a security card and open all the doors yourself.

IN PRISON......you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK........you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON......you get your own toilet.
AT WORK........you share the toilet with some people who pee on the seat.

IN PRISON......they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK........you're not supposed to even speak to your family.

IN PRISON......all expenses are paid by the taxpayers.
AT WORK........you pay all your expenses to get to work, and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON .....you must deal with sadistic wardens.
AT WORK........they're called managers.

IN PRISON..... you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.
AT WORK ...... you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars

Hope that's clarified things a bit for you.

I Was Totally Humbled By This Positive Attitude – You Will be Too!

Last Night I was Shocked and Humbled with this Lesson in Positive Attitudes

Very unusual for me to watch TV but last night I saw a documentary called, “Stephen Hawking’s Universe.”

Interesting as the program was; the story of The Cosmos from Big Bang to The End Of Time; what struck me most was the Positive Attitude of Professor Hawking.

Here is a man, totally paralysed and  confined to a wheelchair and he considers himself lucky! This is what he said in the program last night,

“I think of myself as fortunate because, although I cannot move and I have to speak through a computer, in my mind I am free.  Free to contemplate the universe. I never get bored because, after all it is a pretty remarkable place.”

He also demonstrated his sense of humour by saying,

“The Cosmos has taken the first step towards the beautiful place it is today, thanks to irregularity, imperfection and lack of order.

So next time someone complains that you have made a mistake, tell them that may be a good thing because without imperfection, neither you nor I would exist!”

He went on to say,

“Life is one of the greatest phenomenon that in my opinion shows that the universe is capable of almost anything.”

For those of you who don’t know anything about Professor Hawking, here is a video of him expanding on some of his theories;

Enjoy!
